Catch Up List

Well, I've been away for awhile.  Stuff has been going on.  So here's a quick rundown:

Went to the doctor, my labs sucked.  Back to the whole "change your eating habits and lose weight or else" go I.  Started a new medication that makes me feel crappy, and eating low carb makes me feel crappy.  Feeling crappy is not conducive to blogging, so there's that.

Really missed being in school.  Yeah, I know, that sounds weird.  I've decided to go back to my alma mater, Western Governors University (WGU) and get my MBA in Healthcare Management.  My mother thinks two Master's degrees are excessive, but whatever.  It's the learning new stuff that I enjoy.  I'm really excited to learn more about the business side of things.  And I didn't want to get a doctorate in Nursing....

My Dad's ashes were finally committed to the deep with full military honors off the U. S. S. Albany (SSN-753) on July 29, during their deployment.  The fact that his ceremony occurred on a submarine was very special.  His service on submarines (especially the first nuclear submarine, the USS Nautilus) was one of things he was most proud of.  A fitting end to a larger than life man.

Maddie graduates from her intermediate class today.  She's been great, but I don't think we'll go on to the advanced.  She has a solid knowledge of all the stuff we wanted....sit, stay, down, come, heel, etc., and she can down stay at the front door of Petsmart with people coming in and out.  She's so freakin' smart.  We are going to give her a treat by taking her to one of our favorite restaurants with a "petio" that is connected to a bookstore that welcomes dogs.  She LOVES going out an about and is SO well-behaved.

I'm really going to try to post a little more often, but rest assured, I still read all my favorite blogs!

  1. Congrats to Maddie--dog training is important and so often done inconsistently.

Good for you for going back to school!

    Hope you feel better soon.
