Sunday Stealing--Compassion

Questions, as always, from Bev at Sunday Stealing.

What is the most fun thing you have ever done?  I feel pretty blessed to have done lots of fun things in my life.  The most fun thing is pretty hard to choose though.   One of the most magical, fun things I can say I've done is our wonderful Balloon Fiesta here in Albuquerque.  I felt like a kid, full of wonder.  Everyone should experience it, at least once.

Are you left-handed or right-handed?  Right-handed.  Very right-handed.  I can’t do jack with the left.

What is the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?  Forgive me.

What is the biggest animal you’ve seen in the wild?  Moose.  Living in Alaska, you see a LOT of moose.  Our property was filled with willow stands, and they’d spend hours munching and crunching.  We had a cow moose who delivered twins about 10 feet from our deck.  I was always slightly (ok, more than slightly) afraid of the bull moose though—those things are ENORMOUS.  And scary.

What is the smallest animal you’ve seen in the wild?  Hummingbirds.  Tiny.

Do you ever have funny dreams at night?  Rarely, but the ones I remember are always bad.

If you could make a law for your country, what would it be?  I would ban handguns (except for police and military) and assault weapons.  I would exempt, with very specific restrictions, rifles and shotguns used for hunting.  The only thing, in my opinion, handguns and assault weapons are for is killing human beings.  Haven’t we had enough of that yet?

What would you do if you were invisible for a day?  Rob a bank?  Hell I don’t know.

If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be?  Someone with a ton of money.  I would buy a ton of stuff, and get to keep it (since this is only “a day”).  Otherwise, I’m not interested.

What would you like to change about yourself?  As ever and always, I’d like to be thinner.  I’m working on it, but that ship has probably sailed.  We’ll see.  I’d like to enjoy exercise (ship has definitely sailed on this one).  I’d like to be financially comfortable with no debt (the ship has sunk on this one).

What is your daily routine.  Get up between 4-430.  Make lunch, get dressed, drive 40 min to work.
Work from 6-230.  Drive home.  Sit in my chair, surf the internet, play with Maddie.  Watch TV with hubs until 8ish.  Take a bath, go to bed, read a bit.  Sleep.  Repeat.  Weekends, I study from 4-10am (I’m working on a 2nd master’s degree), then we run errands, have lunch, take Maddie to park, etc.

What would your perfect day be like?  Wake up in a 5 star hotel.  Have room service.  Explore some exotic location that has amazing history, is walkable, and where I magically know the language.  Have fabulous exotic lunch.  More exploring.  Fabulous exotic dinner.  Fall into bed in beautiful 5 star suite that I didn’t have to clean.

How old were you when you learned to read?  Three.  I was reading third grade books in the first grade. I remember Dick and Jane being incredibly boring.  “Mom, they want me to read BABY STUFF!!”  Real quote, according to my Mom.

What is the most interesting thing you know?  I know lots of things that are interesting to me, but probably boring as hell to most people.

What makes you nervous?  Conflict, loud voices or noises, not having enough money, being in the passenger seat (which sucks, because my husband does all the driving when we’re together), lines, people in my personal space (which is abnormally large), cities, the homeless (my list, so don’t judge), drunk people, and the list goes on.  I have an anxiety disorder, the question should have been, what are you NOT nervous about.

What is your favourite flower?  Columbines are beautiful.

Have you ever ridden on a horse or any other animal?  I rode horses competitively until I was 26.  After that, it just became too damn expensive.

What time do you go to bed? Between 8-10pm

What time do you get up? Between 330-430am

What is something that is always in your refrigerator?  Eggs, at least 20 different hot sauces (hub’s, not mine), milk, cold-brew coffee, garlic, celery, hummus, various cheeses, various pickled things, miso
