Saturday 9--Black

Play here.

Saturday 9: Black (2016)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song was chosen because yesterday was Black Friday, the traditional day of sales. Have you begun your Christmas shopping?

Unlike previous years, I have.  I sent my brother and his wife a selection of goodies from Santa Fe Soap Ranch.  He got a shave brush, mug, and soap and she got lotion, lip balm, and scrub.  I’ve picked out a gift for my Mom as well.  Hubs and I are supposed to be filling our Amazon wish lists.  I need to work on that…..

2)  Was there an adult beverage served with your Thanksgiving feast?

No—we ate early so Mom didn’t have to drive in the dark.

3) Did any pets enjoy scraps from your Thanksgiving table?

We don’t feed our pets scraps.  We did that with Ginger and swore we wouldn’t do it to Maddie.  Maddie isn’t even allowed in the kitchen or dining room.

4) Are there any Thanksgiving leftovers in your refrigerator right now?

I’m having leftover stuffing for breakfast right now.  There’s some cranberry sauce, and a little bit of green bean casserole.  Hubs was VERY conservative on portion sizes this year which was awesome.  Our first Thanksgiving together he cooked enough for the entire neighborhood, I swear.

5) Football is a popular Thanksgiving weekend pastime. Will you be watching any games over the next few days? If yes, which team(s) are you rooting for?

Nope.  Not into sports.

6) This week's song is by Dierks Bentley. He wrote it for his wife, Cassidy Black, who appears in the video. They met in eighth grade, dated on and off, and then eloped when they were in their late 20s. Has anyone ever surprised you by going off and suddenly getting married?

Not that I can think of.

7) 2016 was a good year for Bentley. This song was one of three hits he had that year, he co-hosted the CMAs and was nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year and Video of the Year. As 2020 winds to an end, do you feel it's been a successful year?

Personally successful, yes.  House got remodeled, work became permanently remote, Mom moved here.  It’s a real weird thing, because all of this came about because of COVID.  Which is still killing thousands of people a day.  I actually feel guilty that I’ve had good things happen to me because of COVID.

8) In 2016, David Bowie died. Do you have a favorite Bowie song?

Not a Bowie fan.

9) Also in 2016, CBS telecast reran How the Grinch Stole Christmas for the 50th time. What's your favorite Dr. Seuss story?

How the Grinch Stole Christmas…definitely.

  2. Leftover stuffing for breakfast ... why not? I like that you're a free thinker when it comes to food.
