I am….

Reading:  The Historian, by Elizabeth Kostova.  I couldn’t get into Oryx and Crake, so I picked an old favorite.

Listening to:  morning sounds—Randall wandering around the house meowing, my little heater, Maddie’s slow breathing.

Loving:  Writing letters.  I joined a pen pal group, and sent off 3 letters over the weekend, two to other states, and one to Australia, plus one email.  My handwriting is readable, but I wish it were better.  I may have to work on that.

Thinking:  I really don’t feel like trekking into Albuquerque this afternoon for an eye appointment, but the eye strain is real, so buck up buttercup and just do it.  But the traffic at 400p….  Uggghh.  I’ll go.  Sheesh (conversation in my head)

Feeling:  Ready for the day.  Working in my jammies is ….. priceless.  Thank goodness my company doesn’t require cameras on our Webexes.

Celebrating:  Being alive

Grateful for:  My permanent answer to this is “everything”.

Weather:  52 degrees.  High of 77 today, not a cloud to be expected.  Will be a lovely morning for the Mass Ascension at Balloon Fiesta.  We decided against going this year….I’m just not ready to be in those kind of crowds…we’ll take Mom next year.  Here's a shot from the 1st Mass Ascension we attended several years ago--I think this was 2014.

Enjoying:  Knowing that all our dinners for this week are already cooked.  Huzzah!

A quote I want to share:

I wish I were better at living this than I am, but it's a work in progress.  And probably will be, for the rest of my life.

  1. Oryx & Crake is an acquired taste. I read it when it first came out. It's relevant, as most of Atwood's works are, but it wasn't an easy read.

  2. I also loved The Historian. But The Swan Thieves stayed with me longer.
